Park days

Parks are places to play, run, enjoy, read, draw, jump, walk, meet friends, make friends, listen to music... and this is what we always do in our park days!

Books week: 23th of April world book day

23th of April is the World Book Day, a yearly event organized by UNESCO to promote and stimulate reading.
The connection between 23 April and books was first made in 1923 by booksellers in Spain as a way to honour the author Miguel de Cervantes who died on that day. In 1995, UNESCO decided that the World Book Day would be celebrated on this date which is also the anniversary of the birth and death of William Shakespeare, Garcilaso de la Vega and Josep Pla.
To celebrate this day in Spain and some countries in South America
, Don Quijote de la Mancha is read during a two-days "readathon".
The tradition is also to give a book and a rose like a present to the family, friends or lovers. For the occasion a lot of bookshops "go out" on the streets to sell books with special discounts.

This year in Vila Raluca we celebrated a complete book week!

We created our own books:
- This is an instant animal-book called: Ass and Head
. To do this book you only need one sheet of paper!

When you see the ass of one animal you have to guess which animal it is and check it  with the head on the next page!

- This is a flower-book with the story of a mouse who wants to have the strongest friend of the world:

The mouse travels around the world to find the strongest friend and after she talks with a rhino, a mountain, a river, the sun, the wind, and a wall she finds the strongest friend: another mouse!

- We also created a nature book. For this we went to the park to collect leafs and flowers, and we sticked them in a book:

Besides of create our own books we also read. We went to the park with a big book with Andersen fairy tales and we spent a beautiful evening under a tree sharing the stories.

Reading is fun n' mental!!!
