Our life in Slobozia

All this time in Slobozia made us Slobozia citizens. We know the city, we use its services, we talk with our neighbors, our dogs know the way to go to the parks, we know the better shops, we have our favorite bars and restaurants... We are Slobozians!

We want to show you how is our normal life in Slobozia and you will know a little bit more about our new home.
As you know Slobozia is a small city of Romania, it's the capital of Ialomita county, named by Ialomita river. It's placed in the South east of Romania, a rural area and one of the poorest zones.
Slobozia has 50.000 inhabitants, and it's a conection point between Bucharest and the coast. A few factories are located in Slobozia but the county is still a rural zone with a lot of fields. Despite of other small cities in Romania, it has a good communication with other points through trains and buses. Slobozia has local media, a local TV chanel and some newspapers.
Slobozia is the mix of a growing city in a traditional rural area.
*We appeared in an article in a local newspaper which you can read here.

Slobozia has several cultural and artistic services: Museums, Library, Cultural centers, Sport centers and Theather. We went a few times with the kids to the Cultural House to join some theather plays, cinema, performances or events, for example on 2th April - the Autism day. (You can read about it here).

One of the most popular centers is the Cultural Center Ionel Perlea, placed in the market square.
Ionel Perlea was a very famous conductor and composer particularly associated with the Italian and German opera repertories.

Slobozia has a lot of restaurants and coffebars and many fast food restaurants (a few of them are 24/7). It has also a few clubs.
We tried to go to every bar in Slobozia, but we didn't!
Here you can see us in:
* Restaurant Atlantic
* Park bar
* Alt bar

* Glamour bar

* Cultural center bar
* Piper club

One of the things I really like about Slobozia is that it has a lot of parks and green zones. Slobozia has a lot of trees and a lot of them are fruit trees which is really cool in summer, when everyone can take apples, nuts, and other fruits from them.

There are 2 places we always visit in Slobozia (we could say that we go almost everyday):

*Univers shop, this is a stationery-bookshop which in fact is a shop for everything you need. Here you can buy a bike, a blackboard, a perfume, a lamp, toilet paper, a toy, a puzzle, and even water.
The workers of this shop really hate us, we always want specific things that we don't know how to explain in romanian haha, it's always funny!

*The non stop, this is a small supermarket which is located so close of our flat and it is always open. This means that we can watch Breaking Bad at any time and we can buy coke, cheaps and chocolate. (This is why everyone will come back home with some kilo more, even Daniel)

For us Slobozia is our home. We feel very confortable here and we like it very much.
If you want to know more about Slobozia, just come here!!!!

Sărbătorile Municipiului Slobozia III: duminică

 On the last day of the Slobozia's feast we could enjoy demonstrations of a few sports which are available to practice in Slobozia like Judo, Zumba, Tae bo, Karate, Boxing...

After the sports, the big contest of the night started, Miss Slobozia:

Miss Slobozia 2013 was coronated and the party kept on going. The concerts started: first a romanian singer of traditional music as hora, later, a romanian rock band.

Sărbătorile Municipiului Slobozia II: sambata

Saturday was the more expected day of Slobozia's feast. The funpark was full since the afternoon so we could enjoy such a good atmosphere of celebration and party. We took a look at the stands and we also bought some things. We enjoyed some fairground amusements and we checked our marksmanship on a balloon shooting game. I won an awesome and useful prize: a birthday hat!!!

After a dinner with our favorite romanian plate: mici! we moved to the stage area. The first artist of the night was Pepe, a romanian singer and TV presenter.

Emil Lassaria and Caitlyn were the second artists. We already knew some songs of them because they are so many times on KissTV, and because mostly of their songs are in spanish!

The party finished with the Dj. We danced and sang a lot and we even had enough energy for the next day!

Sărbătorile Municipiului Slobozia I: vineri

On Thursday 13 Slobozia's feast started: 4 days of celebration around the city. This feast was the 13th edition and all the people from Slobozia, and another towns, could enjoy concerts, sports exhibitions, parades, traditional dances, contests, expositions, music shows and other attractions!
The feast began on Thursday morning in the Cathedral Park, where the statue of Slobozia's heroes is placed. There were some ceremonies and the concert of the Symphony Orchestra. Unfortunately this day it rained, so we couldn't join the exhibitions of the evening with the kids.

On Friday (vineri) we spent the evening with the kids at the funfair:

Our brave girls joined the Summer Loops, the most vertiginous attraction. Our small girls had a lot of fun in a magic train full of colors, and also mostly of us joined the bumper cars:

After all this fun, we went to the stage to welcome the participants of the parade who came from the other part of the city. And we enjoyed the concert of the Slobozia music band.

Friday was the day dedicated to traditional dances, so different dance groups joined Slobozia's feast. We could see dances from Romania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Poland:

At 9 o'clock we came back to the vilas after a funny day, but the fun had not been finished yet! We enjoyed another 2 more days at Slobozia's feast!!!
