Theater week: Shadow theater

Every wednesday all children of each house meet to do activities together. On theater week the kids played shadow theater.

The volunteers made different characters and places in cardboards like a dragon, monsters, a castle, a pirate boat, a monkey, a train, a dancer, a wizzard,aliens, a ninja...

We divided the kids in 4 groups and we distributed the characters randomly between them. The kids had to create a story with their characters, and then they showed it to the rest of the kids.

They were so creative and we could see interesting and funny stories.

After the shadow theater the volunteers made 4 comic sketches without using words to introduce the kids silent theater.

Theater week: Clown

We spent a fantastic week with the kids making theater everyday. We tried to combine different kinds of theater to explore this amazing art with our kids.

Our timetable that week was full of games to prepare body and mind to play theater. We made stretching, body expression games, relaxation games, improvisations, crafts to create fingers puppets...

I will show you pictures about clowns day.

First of all we weared our red noses and we chose our clown name.

Then we played clown games to explore different emotions and moods, like this game with the chairs:

The blue chair was for sadness and the red one for happiness. When a kid sits on one chair he starts to feel the emotion which grows progressively. All the kids did it very well as you can see in the pictures.

We played more games like talk in other languages. In couples, one kid talk in a foreign language and other kid translates what he is talking about.

We had a lot of fun discovering the fantastic world of the clowns.

Clases de rumano

Voy a clase de rumano dos veces a la semana aunque podría decir que con los niños doy cursos intensivos!

No me parece un idioma muy complicado excepto por la pronunciación. Al tercer día de estar aquí ya entendía un poquito si me lo decían muy despacio, tiene bastantes palabras parecidas al español y muchas también son como en asturiano, así que por esa parte no es muy difícil.

Dentro de lo poco que sé decir y entiendo, intentaré explicar un poco este idioma:

• El abecedario rumano, es igual que el español con la diferencia de que no tienen la Ñ y tienen estas letras:  ă, â, î, ș, ț .

• Pronunciación:

       ă = Una "a" cerrada, casi como "u". 
       î, â = Como la "ü" alemana (diptongo "iu").
       ţ =  "ts".       
       ş =  "sh". 
       c = "ch" antes de "e"/ "i". 
       ch = "k". 
       g = "gu".
       h =  "j".
       j =  "sj"
       ge/gi = "lle / lli".
       z = "ss".
       v = "fv".

• Plurales: Se forman, añadiendo la vocal -i a la última consonante del masculino, transformando la última vocal del femenino en -e, -i, o añadiéndole -le, y que en el neutro a veces se le añada -e, o -uri. 

       Ejemplo:

       Masculino: profesor--profesori

       Femenino: bere--beri

       Neutro: pix--pixuri

• Vocabulario:

Trip to the Carpathian Mountains

At the last weekend we`ve been to the Carpathian Mountains with 12 children of Vila Raluca, Vila Christina and Vila Marian. On Friday we visited mud volcanoes in an amazing landscape of hills and a wonderful coloured autumn forest.

 

On Saturday we went to see Bran Castle in Transilvania which, according to legend, was the home

of Dracula, but obviously the author never had visited this castle, because there`s not a shred of creepiness about it and it`s quite pathetic for such a big vampire.

On Sunday we made a very informative paperchase in Braşov which is a wonderful old city in the valley of the Carpathian Mountains. In the 13th century it was founded by fraters of the German Order and until the 19th century the population of Braşov had a quite high percentage of Germans.

It was a successful weekend trip with a well-chosen programme, although the drive was a little too curvy and dynamic ;))

...but the Kids enjoyed it anyway.

Crafts: music instruments

At least twice per week we have crafts with the kids. Last week we created our own music instruments!

To create a guitar you only need:
-One shoes box
-6 rubber bands
-Colour paper
-Glue and scissors





To create a maraca you only need:
-One cardboard toilet tube
-Beans or rice
-Color paper
-Glue and scissors

We were musicians for two hours and we had a lot of fun!

English lessons

Two days per week we have English lessons in Vila Raluca and Vila Marian. 

We don't have notebooks, books or dictionaries, we use creativity to learn english. The kids learn colours, numbers, nouns of animals, food, directions... painting, dancing, singing and talking.

One day we wanted to learn nouns of clothes, so we created a clothesline.

Other day we wanted to learn animals nouns so we created a farm:

We wanted to learn about food and drinks, so we went to the supermarket:

We wanted to learn the seasons too:

The kids are very motivated to learn english and we learn romanian at the same time :D

It's funny try to find the words in both languages and try to have conversations between us! Sometimes it's a chaos but everyday all of us learn new words.

Last Friday in Vila Raluca we did an exam and the results were very good, 3 girls had a 9!!

Halloween party

The week before Halloween we made a lot of crafts for decorate the houses so on Halloween we had spiders, bats, bones, skulls and pumpkins everywhere.

We played Halloween games and we ate a lot of candy, what else? :D
