World Autism Awareness Day has been held every year since 9 September 1989. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly supported by all member states.
The World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) Resolution had four main components:
-the establishment of 2 April as WAAD
-participation of UN orgs, member states, NGOs and private & public orgs-raise awareness of autism on all levels in society.
To that end, World Autism Awareness Day provides materials and suggestions on how to participate in WAAD as well as a list of current activities different countries and organizations are conducting to celebrate WAAD.
In Slobozia, the asociation Ajutați-ne să înțelegem lumea, organized two events:
With the "sea of solidarity" they paint Slobozia streets with blue for a few minutes with a lot of blue balloons to raise awareness about autism:

The second event was a show performed by students from different high schools of the town to collect money for the Centrul Piccolini, a center for kids with autism.
We could enjoy the show and we could appreciate how many talent Slobozia has. We saw pop-rock bands, singers, chorus, dancers...
The theater was full! In fact, we were on the stairs!
Thanks to everyone who participated in this beautiful day, specially the Association Ajutați-ne să înțelegem lumea, Picolini's center, high schools, Cinema Galax, youngsters and kids from Slobozia...
Al :)
