Delta Dunării

To finish our trip we decided to go to the Danube Delta. Our bus from Istanbul to Slobozia also stopped in Constanta, so we left the bus and we took a train from Constanta to Tulcea.

Tulcea is an important Danube port. It is mainly industrial but it has a festive riverside promenade (2km), beautiful parks (specially the lake Ciuperca park, which also has a small beach) and a small hill from where it's possible to see all the city. The hill is crowned by the Independence monument (1904) and the letters with the city's name.

Sulina (the delta's largest town)is almost 64 km down the Danube channel from Tulcea. We took a catamaran at 13.30 and we arrived at at 16.30!

In Sulina we met a cool guy who joined us in an irish pub and who told us the best places to see of Sulina:  the old light house, the old church and the cemetery:

If you go to Sulina with the ferry or catamaran you will stay at least 1 night, because there is only one trip per day. There are many accomodations but, like in Vama Veche, camping in the beach is allowed and free. And you can enjoy a beautiful sunset!!!
