Summer urban camp: Circus school II

*Day 8: Juggling (level 2)
In the game "Do I have a ghost behind me?" the kids are stand up in a circle, closed eyes. 3 kids are outside of the circle, open eyes. They are the ghosts; they will decide 3 kids to stand behind of them at least 10 seconds. If the kids feel that they have a ghost behind them they should ask “do I have a ghost behind me?”, if they are right they will interchange the places with the ghost, but if they are wrong, they should sit down.

"Free the frogs" is a very funny game to play in couples. The kids are in a circle, hand in hand, and a couple of kids are in the middle, acting like frogs, BUT not normal frogs, they are blind frogs. The kids from the circle form like a cage for the frogs, there will be just one exit that the frogs have to find jumping around the circle.

"The bacon is burning" is a modification of the traditional game known like "the bandana". The kids are in 2 teams, each one in a side of the playground. In the middle there is a ball. Each kid of a group will take care of an ingredient, for example bacon. The leader will say "The bacon is burning" and the 2 kids who are taking care of the bacon have to run to the ball (the bacon) catch it and come back to the base, avoiding that the other kid catch the ball or tag them.

To try juggling with 2 balls, first we made a second ball with the same elements and instructions like the day before. When everyone had 2 juggling balls we went outside to practise. First we practised by couples to get used to handle 2 balls.

After this, we practised individually:

*Day 9: Juggling (level 3)
This was the last day of the camp. After a few outside games we started juggling level 3, which means with 3 balls!!!

Rambazamba school
closed the doors, at least for this summer. We learned acrobatics, juggling, clown improvisation and theater activities. We crafted, we played, we sang and we danced. Above all, we laughed and we enjoyed a lot. Circus means magic, fantasy and dreams. Through circus activities we could work our mind and body, our coordination, balance, power and elasticity; also our confidence, self esteem and ridiculous sense.

But even when the camp was over, the day had not been over yet. During the camps we developed a point system to stimulate the good behaviour of the kids. This is a widely used method in kid's education. At the end of the camp the kids with a specific number of points had a surprise: go to the real circus!!!
First of all we ate all together, so we prepared a vegetables snack and pasta for the kids:

After lunch we went to the Gaertner Circus.
We could see some animals outside, and the kids could greet the elephants:
